Treatment planning
Visit #1: Clinical examination and consultation.
Visit #2: Extraction of all teeth on upper and lower arches due to periodontal disease. Implants were placed immediately.
Visit #3: Implant scans taken for fabricating the PMMA provisional denture.
Visit #4: After a healing period of 4 months, an iTero scan was taken for the final fixed prosthesis.
Visit #5: Passive fit of PMMA provisional dentures was confirmed clinically and radiographically. Centric relation was recorded by scanning the temporary prosthesis.
Visit #6: Try-in of upper and lower titanium frameworks and PMMA crowns, centric relation was checked again.
Visit #7: The final prosthesis was cemented.
Comments
- Patient's chief complaint: unaesthetic smile, mobility of upper and lower teeth, reduced masticatory ability.
- To restore aesthetics and proper function, I planned full-mouth rehabilitation supported by implants.
- After implant surgery, I use the digital impressions to make the provisional dentures immediately for the healing period.
There are many advantages of digital impression in full-mouth rehabilitation cases:
1) Improving patient comfort
2) Avoiding traditional impressions and materials and pouring stone models
3) Better patient, technician, and clinician communication
4) Simplifying clinical procedures and more predictable results
